Monsoon makeup for girls

Monsoon certainly isn’t the right time for cakey makeup and dark colours. What you really need is a makeup routine that is easy to reapply (humidity isn’t makeup’s best friend), doesn’t clog your pores (we have enough stickiness going around already) and keeps you looking dewy fresh all day long.

Face

Give the old foundation a skip and make do with a water-based sunscreen as a base if you have clear skin. If you must cover up blemishes and even out your skin tone, pick a foundation that is light and oil-free or just dab on some concealer over problem spots. Powder-based or mineral makeup works best in sweaty weather. Use a toner to freshen up your skin and tighten the pores. Nude is the look of the season but don’t keep yourself from experimenting with colour around your eyes. Use loose powders in different tones to help your makeup stay put for longer.

Even the most flawless complexions can fall prey to pimples and blemishes if not appropriately pampered. Cleanse your face with a soap-free face wash at least twice a day, especially before turning in at night. Stock up on some facial wipes for those moments on the go.

Eyes and Lips

For a casual daytime look, primp your peepers with a generous layer of kohl or black eyeliner (waterproof, of course) and go easy on the lips with a layer of tinted balm or a matte lipstick in nude. Steer clear of goopy glosses and dramatic shades like red, chocolate and berry. Orange is indeed the hue of the season.

Give mascara a miss altogether or use a single layer of a waterproof one - just enough to make your eyes pop. Bright eye-liners and eye shadows in turquoise, teal, emerald, olive green and fuchsia are hot right now.

Hair

Humidity can really cause a nightmare on your head with all that frizz and fly-aways. Keeping your hair squeaky clean and perfectly conditioned is half the battle won. Invest in some good quality serum to keep your mane smooth, silky and lustrous. Keep it stylish in neat, pulled-back dos. High ponytails and chignons look fetching any time of the day and you can always throw in some accessories to glam them up for an evening out.

Carry these in your bag always, to look fresh ‘n’ pretty through the monsoon:
- Non-alcoholic face wipes to wipe away grime
- Toner
- Oil-free moisturizing sunscreen
- Water proof kohl or eyeliner
- Sheer lip tint
- Hair serum to tame that frizz
- Scrunchies and headbands
When the outdoors look dull and dreary, pull out those hot pinks, lime greens, sunny yellows, and cool aquas from your wardrobe.

Monsoon ready looks for you!

We sure do love our weekend. Besides mindless lounging, and copious amounts of bingeing we also like to indulge the fashionista in us. Breaking away from the humdrum of work wear, the weekend calls for some major fashion risks. But the monsoons can sure rain on your parade dampening your weekend festivities. Instead, we show you how to give the pouring sky a stylish nod in three trendy looks that are monsoon approved.

Challenge: SheerWhile you may be saving sheer for summer, we think this sultry fabric can work for monsoon just as well. Slip into your flirty, sheer dresses to show off your summer tan. Not only are they the perfect dose of chirpy to add to the dull weather but the length works great against monsoon puddles.

Challenge: WhiteWhite may be taboo for the rambunctious weather, but tiny shorts are fair play. Pair them with the nectarine accessories to glam up the look.

Challenge: Full lengthWhile we would suggest stacking away your full length garments for the season, we are all for donning trendy cover-ups in rain-proof materials. Stack on some bright accessories and rain-friendly footwear to finish off this look.
